“Upon leaving there wasn’t a dry eye in the room”
While walking through the aisles at the movie theatre I realized something was interesting about this setting. I didn’t realize what that was until I sat down and looked around, then I realized that there was no target audience for this movie. No matter who you are, what your interests are, or what type of movie you like, this movie is meant for you. There were people of every generation, gender, and demographic, and that is when I knew this would be a different kind of movie, one worth writing about.

A Star is Born was originally released in 1937, remade again in 1954 and 1976 and now again in October 2018. After its fourth remake, my conclusion is that the movie just gets better and better. In the 2018 rendition, Bradley Cooper co-directs and stars in a brilliant love story. The story surrounds the journey of a country super star battling his addiction to alcohol and drugs, and a girl with a striking voice singing in a bar, whose world’s instantly changes upon meeting said superstar.
Jackson Maine (Cooper) stumbles into a drag bar one evening on a desperate search for more alcohol after one of his shows. That is where he sees Ally (Lady Gaga) on stage, and he is instantly mesmerized by her insanely beautiful singing voice. He meets her after the show, and even through the screen can you feel the instant connection between the two. Upon hearing Ally’s original songs and getting to know her better, Jackson invites her on tour with him, with the plan to bring her on stage. It is Jackson that single-handedly launches Ally’s music career, masking the demise of his own. Throughout the rise of Ally’s career and the downward spiral of Jack’s, she continues to love and support him, even through extremely dark moments. Her love and loyalty for him is truly heartwarming and courageous, as she shows that love and fame aren’t always what they are cracked up to be, but she still keeps going and stays true to herself and what she stands for.

This movie tells the story of a talented girl singing in a bar and her transformation and journey to become a pop star, while seeing the constant struggles that even celebrities face. The story is beautifully written, and makes the viewer feel a deep connection to Ally and Jack. Accompanying the highly emotional storyline is the beautiful soundtrack that I, and I assume the rest of the audience, downloaded immediately after the movie. The soundtrack provides another dimension to the story that already had the audience in tears.
Upon leaving the theatre the group of people who at the beginning of the movie might have had little in common now shared something, which was the love for this movie. There wasn’t a single person in the audience not clapping at the end, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.
